What we handle
- Customs clearance of commercial imports by truck, ocean container, air cargo, rail and courier
- Release requests sent electronically to CBSA before the goods arrive
- Final accounting (the commercial accounting declaration) with the correct duties and taxes
- Corrections and amendments when information changes after release
- Acting for you when goods are examined or held by another government department
What we need from you
Most shipments only need the commercial invoice, the packing list, the bill of lading and the eManifest. Email them to us as soon as the goods ship. If this is your first import, you need to sign a Power of Attorney (POA) authorizing us to conduct customs business with CBSA on your behalf, and link your CARM account to us. Both are required before we can clear your goods.
Before the goods arrive
We check the HS code, origin and value of each item, confirm whether any permits or other departments' requirements apply, and tell you the expected duties and taxes. Once you confirm the duties and taxes, we submit the declaration to CBSA, and when the goods arrive CBSA decides whether to release them.
After release
As soon as your goods are released, our system automatically sends you a release notice, and you can arrange pickup. We then submit the accounting of the duties and taxes owed on the shipment to CBSA.
